'Bee' Writer Who Resigned Plans to Still Speak at Columnists' Conference (MSM HAS NO SHAME)

The National Society of Newspaper Columnists still wants Diana Griego Erwin as a speaker next month, despite her Wednesday resignation from The Sacramento Bee over allegations that the paper could not verify the existence of some people mentioned in her columns.

Erwin, who has denied fabricating sources, told the NSNC today that she's still coming to its June 23-26 conference in Grapevine, Texas. She is scheduled to speak the morning of June 24.

"She's one of the best columnists in America -- and she has a real story to tell now," said Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist/conference host Dave Lieber, who invited Erwin to speak several months ago.

Oh paleeze. Griego guest lectured at a journalism course I took once, a long time ago. Her columns were self-indugent pap -- perils of survival in the the exurbs. Not surprised to learn they were fantasy.

She had all the viability of a dot.com IPO.

"she has a real story to tell now"

Yeah, and why bother straining for "fake but accurate" - that's too much effort for these bozos - "fake but entertaining" is now the new MSM standard!!!

Got news for these clowns, newspapers are not supposed to be full of fiction. We have novels, poetry, song lyrics, and short stories for fiction.... newspapers are supposed to provide REAL NEWS!

Mr. Lieber ought to be instructed on the difference in meaning between 'columnist' and 'fabulist'.

Being two-faced means you have one left to show, after losing face...

The story is "real" even if the evidence is fake.
