Have tissues handy ladies.
Wonderful!
I'm just up the road (and across the Bay) from VA Beach and the 1st graders did thier "program" Monday night - the theme was patriotic and poems and songs were done about George Washinton and Abraham lincoln. There was also a segment about the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance - line by line it was told. The line "One nation under God" was defined as that God has blessed and continues to Bless our country.
The final segment was a poem in tribute to the heroes and victims of 9/11/01 and the War on Terror and a request for members of the audience to stand when their service was named so they could be honored. All branches of the military were called and also police fire and emts - the children then walked into the audience and gave every standing person an American flag. The children then returned to the stage and they sang Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA"........There wasn't a dry eye in the gym.
This is a public school I'm talking about.
