As we expected, the State Senate Transportation & Housing Committee passed Gil Cedillo's driver's license bill on Thursday. All Republicans on the Committee voted no, all Democrats but one voted yes. There was one Democrat not voting.
The bill will next be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee. The committee meets every Monday at 1:30 pm. As soon as a hearing date has been set, we will notify you.
Please take time to contact the committee members and the committee consultant to oppose this bill.

Oh, that silly thing? Notice how it conveniently "went away?"
Pretty frustrating, huh? Yet praise is placed with a certain someone for killing the last bill. Amazing.

Where ya going? Hurry back! :-)
Bye DougFir....
This bill is all political theater. It will never pass. The Demorats know it. If it passed, every Californian that wanted to board an airline flight would have to immediately obtain a passport, or some other form of federal ID. How ridiculous is that?
Even those not living in California, please help!
BTTT
Actually the above comment is.
The proposed California legislation is intended to comply with the recently signed federal legislation establishing a framework for acceptable state documents issued to illegal aliens. The federal code resulting from this legislation will not be promulgated until 2009 but in the interim California citizens who possess a valid California Driver License may still use the license as an acceptable identity document to enjoy routine federal privileges.
Illegal aliens may not whether they illegally possess a regular California Driver License or the new, illegal alien document if and when the proposed legislation becomes law.
Which is, incidentally, highly unlikely this year, since the Guv's office is saying, "let's wait 'til the Fed rules are clear."
If they give illegal aliens drivers licenses, we will all have to look for an alternative id. How convenient of them to help people out who are here ILLEGALLY. Then put everyone else out to take extra steps for WHAT?//
We can only hope.
Cheers.
I know that is the next step.
I am so tired of paying for myself and paying for all these people who are illegally here. It is all for no good reason other than to bring us all to our financial knees.
I am looking at a bill I got from the hospital for my sons surgery. Not only that, but I also got a request from the hospital for a DONATION for people unable to pay their bills.
What a joke, and in poor taste.
Yep. It's all that compassionate convervatism.

Copy and paste, and please tell them to vote NO on S.B.60.
Does Cedillo's proposed legislation differentiate the driver's license of a legal citizen from that of an illegal alien? I thought he didn't want such a differentiation.

Oprima el numero dos para ingles.
Yes, Cedillo is one of the numerous Mexican anchor babies who has risen to power through his union activities within a gerrymandered, monoculutural district in LA. Just the type of district that many citizen want to eliminate since its representatives tend to sponsor legislation that dirrectly benefits one class at the expense of the state as a whole as is exampled in SB60.
if my ID is no longer good...I am leaving this place like all the sane people have already done
