"Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" scored $50 million in first-day receipts at 3,661 theaters across the nation on Thursday, box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations said Friday. The take handily beats the one-day record of $44.8 million set last year by "Shrek 2." "Sith" is distributed by News Corp.'s (NWS) 20th Century Fox film unit.
I think you mean Syph.
"You are a very, very BAD man, Peter!"
So is this more or less money than Jane Fonda's latest screed?
Thats what I was thinking. How does the movie compare when inflation is taken into account?
Yes..(sp) thanks.
I did too! And then I saw it again 18 hours later with my mom :). I agree it was definitely great. Second only to the Empire Strikes Back as far as movies go! But then again as my screen name suggests, I am some what of a Star Wars geek :)
I've read recently that viewing "Revenge of the Sith" followed by Episodes 4, 5, and 6 are more all anyone could want since all the plot lines from Episodes 1 and 2 are bundled into "Sith".
I have 3, 4 and 5 on DVD and will likely get this one when available and treat the four as a complete 'Saga'.
Not sure, but word was she was intensely unhappy on the set. Word had it that Lucas came close to replacing her. What he ended up doing was simply trimming her part down to the bare minimum.
I saw it and it was pretty good. Definitely the best of this trilogy. The acting and dialog was a little weak. Too many (and too long) light saber fights. The story development seemed a little rushed. You could tell Lucas was trying to tie up all the loose ends and satisfy the die hard fans. This could have been 2 movies instead of one. Personally, I didn't see the so called references to the Bush administration. Worth $7 dollars just to see the fantastic special effects. Makes you appreciate the original series starting in 1977. Amazing what they were able to do back then with the technology they had. We took and the kids. My wife and I were musing that we were younger than our kids are now, when we saw the first one. Time flies!
Or you can just burn down the building.
"Roger Ebert thinks Episodes VII, VIII, and IX will be made."
I'm thinking that's going to require a WHOLE lot of wheelchairs and walkers and Ben-Gay.
{Ask me how I know about walkers and Ben-Gay.}
Even if you hate Star Wars, at least it destroyed Jane Fonda's movie.
Excuse Me?
Of course when they talk about top grossers then never factor inflation.
FOX does not own the films as Lucas financed them himself. They will make plenty of money on distribution however. Lucas will make more.
She did have very little screen time and little to do with it when she was on. My wife and I commented on it right afte the movie.
burger king it was, left you should have

Gone With the Wind is the all time champ when factoring in inflation by a hugh margin.
