Niladri Sekhar Nath - All Headline News Staff Reporter

RALEIGH, N.C. (AHN) - A man who has spent 35 years in jail for stealing a $140 television set will be released in a few weeks.

However, the 64-year-old man Junior Allen will have to work, comply with all laws and check in periodically with a parole officer for five years after his release.

Allen stated Wednesday that he will go back to his home in Georgia and never come back. He will also meet his brother, sister and other relatives in Georgetown, Ga.

Sadly, he didn't miss anything good on TV during the last 35 years.

The pastor of a former client of mine used to say he was "sentenced to death for stealing a used TV" -- but what actually happened was that the 23" Philco console model (!) he looted from the pawn-shop turned out to be an insuperable burden when he tried to run across I-91 in the north end of Hartford with it on his back -- an unwise move, esp. after dark & when the tractor-trailers are highballin'.

I wasn't being sarcastic, though I usually advocate the execution of violent felons, I could live with executing all felons.

Some items were in the original article that were left out of this one. Not that the MSM would intentionally mislead us, but maybe they needed to cut a few lines to make it fit the available space on the internet.

"Allen was sentenced to life in prison for second-degree burglary in 1970 for sneaking into an unlocked house near Benson and stealing a 19-inch black-and-white television.

Some state records say Allen roughed up the 87-year-old woman who lived there, but he wasn't convicted of assault. At trial, her home was presumed to have been unoccupied when he broke in.

At the time, he was a 30-year-old migrant farm worker from Georgia with a criminal history that included burglaries and a violent assault. The law governing his crime has since been changed, and the most severe penalty anyone can now receive for second-degree burglary is three years.

"I been in here way too long," Allen said. "I don't believe no justice been done in my case. I've overpaid for my crime. I feel like I got the back end of the tail."

Correction Department records state that since he was sent to prison, Allen committed nearly 50 infractions including fighting, having sexual contact, possessing contraband, tampering with a lock, gambling, using unauthorized money and disobeying orders.

What so stupid about permanently removing people who are a threat to our society. Wait, here's a better idea, lets lock em up for a few years, at our expense, then let them out so they can commit more crimes. Actually that solution sounds pretty stupid to me. People who violate our society have no right to live, period.

>>Courts in the US are crap shoots. Murders and rapists get parole, while burglars get life.<<

The words "contempt of court" take on new meaning in our day and age, but it's becoming clearer why immoral liberals place such emphasis on the Judicial Branch of government.

If I may be so bold, may I change your quote to this?

"Actually that solution sounds pretty stupid to me. People who violate our society have no right to live in it, period."

I'm sure you would gain more followers :-)

Who would have thought that you could outdo the stupidity of your original post. All felons are not created equal, yet you are apparently willing to execute people for committing such felonies as unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, check kilting, official misconduct, bribery, DUI, minor narcotics charges (like taking prescription drugs without a prescription), failure to file a tax return, aggravated harassment, contempt of court, repeated failure to appear for jury duty, unlicensed use of the airways, etc., etc.

Hitler, Stalin and Mao really appreciated the support of unthinking fellow totalitarians like you.

He's going to have a hard time getting a 54" HDTV out of a house now that he's older. The Progressives Against Progress should do something about this.

Good afternoon.
"...I could live with executing all felons."

I'll bet you could.

Hell, why stop with felons? Think how simple life would be if we just put a round into the back of the head of anyone who offends. I think you should do it personally, don't you.

After reading the follow-up info provided by other posters (thanks guys) all I can say is....Boo-Hoo! My heart BLEEDS!By the way I tried connecting to DU to see what they are saying on this story. It's gotta be good for a laugh. But I cannot connect to their site. Must be server problems. And maybe they are waiting for someone else to pay to fix the problem for them. Been that way for at least the past hour. LOL
