BS... there was nothing unintentional about it.
and am deeply sorry for offending anyone
She's not apologizing for saying what she said, she's apologizing if anyone was offended - big difference.
Over the years Ive witnessed and advised others how a thoughtless gesture or comment can hurt good
This was not a thoughtless comment... this was a prepared speech, most certainly vetted through a few managers at Pepsico.
A hollow apology at best.
Her analogy however, was rather lame.
I for one accept her apology and hope she's learned a bit of a lesson.
You seem to be anticipating "I am sorry if anyone took offense."
This has no IF:
"and am deeply sorry for offending anyone..."
...which is an apology for offending anyone who was offended. It is a valid apology.
I don't believe her venom was unintentional for a minute, but the apology is in the correct form.
Upon re-reading her carefully prepared (not "unintentional") speech, it is ever more clear she is flipping off America.
And revisiting her b!tch-slapping Americans for not praising the Chinese for having invented the hole in the floor is worse than the first offense.
Nooyi no way.
My favorite apology to my wife is "I'm sorry you got angry at me."
It is a very hollow apology. I would like to see her go to Iraq, bring Pepsis to the troops, and MEET them. She is so way out of line on this prepared speech, and she certainly did know exactly what she was doing. What she didn't count on was anyone else knowing. Hugh Hewitt said the CEO should come forward and do damage control now, and I agree. And this woman should be filing somewhere in the company.
