Quite strange. Hurricane season isn't even officially open, nor do storms move into the Carribean from the Pacific.

Except for this one.

Very rare for a west to east movement. It will definitely be considerably weaker when it hits the Caribbean, but given that it's almost June, conditions may be favorable for regeneration.

I think Alicia that hit Houston in 1983 originated as a Pacific storm.

I noticed the Weather Channel stated the Pacific hurricane season starts May 15 while the Atlantic season starts June 1st.

This storm is probably not aware of the different start dates. :^)
