Local reports here in Florida say that when it passes over the mountains of Central America, there won't be much left of it

True, but the question is whether it can regenerate, SSTs being warm, etc.

Maybe I'd better call her now!

2005 : Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Dennis, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irene, Jose, Katrina, Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, Philippe, Rita, Stan, Tammy, Vince, Wilma

Hmmm, I wonder if they'll cut Arlene as we already have an A(drian)?

Also said it would pass way south.

And they said Charley would come in at Tampa and go north of us...until about seven hours before the eye went right over our house!!

It's days away from Cayman. I think when I checked the NOAA site this AM, they had it in the Caribbean on Saturday, but they also had it right over them.

Hopefully, it will lose strength over the mountains of Central America and not have enough to time get organized into much by the time it gets to Cayman.

We've got plenty of plywood, but after the mess last year, we think we're going to buy a generator this weekend.

We lost power for a couple days, and we weren't anywhere near where the storm hit hard.

Anybody got any suggestions on a good generator...hubby says Honda or Yamaha should be best, of course, they're probably the most expensive too, LOL!

I just checked that site too. Still stuck over land and only moving at 9 mph, but Grand Cayman really cannot take another hurricane. I'll call her this evening when she's home and not at her office.

I ordered a Yamaha 2800 over the net last year. It was expensive ($1100.00) but sips fuel and is very, very quiet.
Bought it between Charley and Francis.

Plus the place I bought it from overnighted it for $40.

I would go through your house and add up all that you would like to power via generator, then decide what size to get.

I bought a $100 mini-fridge at Lowes. Uses 75 watts vx 1300 watts for my kitchen fridge. So my generator is used to power tv, lights, fridge, fans and the occaisional biggie of either hair dryer, convection oven or window a/c unit.

Building suppliers have got to be at the bottom of this! It's got to be an evil plot to create building supply shortages and drive up prices even higher. STOP IT! I need to finish building my house before I can't afford to live in it anymore!

I think Alicia that hit Houston in 1983 originated as a Pacific storm.

I noticed the Weather Channel stated the Pacific hurricane season starts May 15 while the Atlantic season starts June 1st.

This storm is probably not aware of the different start dates. :^)

Retract that. The blonde dudette on Fox said that the other day but the tracking maps show it originated south of LA.

Somebody should have told him (Adrian, that is)?

If Adrian passes into the Atlantic/Caribbean/Gulf, they say they will name it Arlene.

Will that make it the first transsexual storm, LOL!

Oh man, that doesn't look good at all - I have many relatives in the Bahamas. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.
