>>>But has the majority learned from the mistakes of their forefathers?<<<<
Define "learned"?
And in addition:
Main Entry: learn Pronunciation: 'l&rn Function: verb Inflected Form(s): learned /'l&rnd, 'l&rnt/; learn·ing Etymology: Middle English lernen, from Old English leornian; akin to Old High German lernEn to learn, Old English last footprint, Latin lira furrow, track transitive senses 1 a (1) : to gain knowledge or understanding of or skill in by study, instruction, or experience (2) : MEMORIZE b : to come to be able c : to come to realize 2 a nonstandard : TEACH b obsolete : to inform of something 3 : to come to know : HEAR intransitive senses : to acquire knowledge or skill or a behavioral tendency
Namely the 1c definition of learn. I hate to bash Germans (as I am descended from em) but the current attitude of the government makes me realize that apparently two world wars were not enough of a lesson for the Germans to learn(#3) how to rid their useless xenophobia that is coupled with a superiority complex. Of course I generalize, the voices of reason and moderation are out there, and they need to be heard.
