American Catholics lashed out in violent rampages in 1989, after photographer Andres Serrano's ''Piss Christ" Thats right, the violent rampages of American Catholics outweighs the minor altercation of Arab insurgenents.
Hey Globe, STHU!

"Then there was Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who announced at a Senate hearing that she had a message for ''Muslims in America and throughout the world." And what was that message? That decent people do not resort to murder just because someone has offended their religious sensibilities? That the primitive bloodlust raging in Afghanistan and Pakistan was evidence of the Muslim world's dysfunctional political culture? No: Her message was that ''disrespect for the Holy Koran is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be, tolerated by the United States.""

Aptly put.
The Buddists didnt quite erupt into a violent orgy when the bamiyan buddhas wwere destroyed by the 'religion of peace'. Who gives anyone the right to murder based on alleged desecrations?

Opps, jumped the gun on that one...Sorry. I expected crap from the Globe.
To: veronica
I can think of a lot of reasons for their disrespect. Christians do not fly airplanes into buildings and blow theirselves up is two of them.

I jumped the gun...I don't trust the Globe for fair and balanced...Sorry.
To: evolved_rage
Not a problem. Your reflex would usually be correct.
To: evolved_rage
It's Jeff Jacoby. He's the lone conservative on the Globe staff.
To: snarks_when_bored
Jeff Jacoby is always wonderful. And might I add that the attitude he expresses in this article has been my view of this whole episode since day one. :)

What is Jacoby trying to say? That people of various religions all over the world react violently to desecrations? I don't recall any Catholics getting shot by their government over the piss Christ incident or associated desecrations against the Virgin Mary In NYC. He really ought to let the Catholics speak for themselves anyway, what does he know about it.?

Jeff Jacoby is just plain one of the most consistent common sense, conservative, family issues oriented journalists we have.
