Cardinal William Henry Keeler (photo 2004), 71, archbishop of Baltimore. Keeler was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He was ordained in 1955 and was assigned to the diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was named bishop of Harrisburg in 1983 and held the position until 1989, when he was appointed archbishop of Baltimore. He was the president of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops from 1992-95. He was named cardinal in 1994.
OK
A-ha! His Eminence is a Pennsylvania boy, eh?
I've heard those Pennsylvania boys are especially good.
Only we'd have national health care and Gosh knows what else, right now. Super-majorities might be appropriate for certain legislation; you know, protecting minority rights and severe changes in "course", and what have you. But my guess is that will be history if this waiver passes... . C'est le vie!
Yep, but born in Texas...lol.
National health care was not stopped by filibuster. But it is coming sooner or later. The economic imperatives demand it. It will have to be rationed, and the way to do that "cosmetically" is with socialized medicine. Modern cutting edge medicine is simply too damned expensive.
If you have clients, does that mean you are lawyer? One more reason to be glad am continuing to recover.
Those who imagine that they are descended from apes....probably are so descended without affecting the ancestry of those of us who are descended only from people by the grace and action of God and His purposes. Don't bother to dissect the logic. I am partially Irish and we never allow mere facts to get in the way of a good story.
Maybe people who think they will return to dust and to dust only will do so but they probably won't be quite that lucky and that IS a fact.
I have noted at least three lawyers on this thread...lol.
I am much too kind to 'out' em with a ping. :)
That post of yours reminds me of Askel5. LOL. I assume you are not praying that I have a fatal auto accident or something sometime soon.
It will be interesting to hear if Keeler has any other sudden revelations of orthodox fortitude infusing him with other outbursts of the Catholic faith. I can only guess that Ratzinger's charisma at the JP II funeral and conclave became contagious or something. Maybe Keeler underwent hypnosis and remedial Catholic programming. [irony] Isn't he getting close to retirement age? Talk about eleventh-hour conversions!
I'm a lawyer--not bragging (unfortunately not yet recovering either).
For your penance, my son, be mildly but not too nice to sinkspur on one occasion in the next year and say Kumbaya to him as though you mean it. Try to find an occasion when he seems somewhat Catholic.
[Insert Act of Contrition and penance which is also no one's bidness] Fr. Ninenot can add: No Buddy Holly music for the Elk for thirty days after being nice to sinkspur.
My my, what a vicious motive to ascribe to him.
Pathetic.
Giuliani is a great guy in many ways, but 750k dead in America a year due to abortion is a little bit of hell-on-earth.
It is good the Church is getting serious about this, cracking down on homosexual pedophiles that made it into the church and battling humanism.
The Church is doing better now what Christ established it to be.
I am happy so far with the new Pope.
Yes dear, you are one of 'em on this thread. :)
Prayers for your speedy recovery in prosperity, counselor.
And here I thought you had already gone to bed.
Could be that Keeler has contracted a terminal cancer and is trying to make up for his career.
OMG! The mention of her screen name and I had to look!
Whooooooooops, she's either on a time out or zot.
