I felt the Empire was like the Nazis without the genocidal leanings. Yes, they blew up planets, destroyed opposing orangizations (Jedi Order) and was harsh to their enemies. But they didn't actually seek out and kill certain races.

I can even understand the destruction of Alderaan, remember Leia was elected by Alderaan by the people of that planet to represent them in the Galactic Senate. Since Leia was a tratior, ergo, those who vote for her are probably traitors too.

On the other the Rebellion was basically much like the 60's radical with more firepower. And we have all seen the evil that the 60's radicals have created when they are in power, we currently call them the Democratic party.

Now both the Rebellion and the Empire are evil organization, but at least the Empire had it's act together and I could respect them for that.

Of course the Rebels were like the 1960s radicals. Heck, George Lucas actually made clear since at least 1973 (which Walter Murch further confirmed) that the Rebel Alliance had been based on the Vietcong, and that if anything, the Galactic Empire was based on us, the United States of America, especially America under Nixon (and if you ask me, Nixon was extremely vilified and rather undeservedly so).

That alone made the case on how the Rebel Alliance was closer to being bad guys far more than this article can ever get, and I used to be a Rebel supporter back when I was naïve enough to still think the Rebels were actually based on the American Minutemen, American values, or even the French Resistance during World War II, so don’t think I’m saying this lightly.

Honestly, even if the Empire were Nazis, as bad as the Nazis were the Vietcong were FAR worse, as this article demonstrates: http://www.paulbogdanor.com/left/vietnam/hochiminh.html

Already now, I can see the dank implications behind what is the actual “freedom” the Rebel Alliance is gunning for (I’ll give you a hint, it’s closer to the French Revolution than the American War for Independence).

Thanks to the bombshells that Lucas gave, call me an Empire supporter from now on, because I simply cannot in good conscience support a group like the Vietcong after the horrors they inflicted both before, during, and after the Vietnam War in the name of Marxism, which is ultimately what I am doing if I support the Rebels and the inherent implications behind that. I don’t like it, but guess what, Lucas with his bombshells don’t exactly leave me with much option but to do so, especially when I can’t rely on the American Minutemen, French Resistance, or anything like that. Besides, since the Empire is literally based on our own country, I probably feel a little bit better supporting it.
