Reid saying JRB ran unopposed? Says they have a "Missouri system." Any CA FReepers to confirm this?

Each judge in CA is voted yea or nay to retain. I don't believe they have opponents. Any corrections from other CA FRers?

CA is right.

Cal supreme court justices are put on the ballot to be retained or dismissed (and replaced by appointment by the governor). The most prominent case was Justice Bird, an outrageious example of liberal judicial activistm...in the 80's I believe. The voters dumped her the first chance they got.
