But does handing out degrees in BS really do anything to help women? It's not like a college degree really means anything once you enter the workforce - it's far less valuable than an equivalent amount of work experience.

Womens groups have nagged and whined and threatened lawsuits in order to create the false impression that women are "equal" to men in university settings. All universities have been put on notice to accept a woman over a man during the application process.
None of this proves "equality". All this stuff proves is that with enough threats and political pressure, you can make anyone kowtow to your bidding.

What if you were to modify this statement to "well-qualified white women" and "less-qualified, less-motivated black male applicants"? Would they agree to that statement? Do all non-white-male categories count the same (other than males of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean ancestry) or is there a hierarchy among oppressed groups?
So what is a degree worth these days?
And how many women are graduating in Engineering, Science and other technical majors (i.e. with really useful degrees)?
