I thought they had already turned over leadership.

Most folks figure they're already at that point, but this week will tell...

I have this deep, uneasy feeling about all this. The MSM has convinced the public that's it's the Republicans that are trying to change things, we know this is a LIE.

I hope you're wrong, but if they cannot restore order, I for one will never support them again, period.

Ditto.

They won the election, but they have no idea how to handle victory.

We shall see. IMHO, Frist wouldn't bring up a vote on a rules change he wan't sure would pass. Also, the 'Rats' last minute offers to deal (basically the same old rejected offer to allow some to pass if they are allowed to kill the nomination of others) are showing signs of weakness.

If it looks like a chicken, walks like a chicken and clucks like a chicken, it's probably a chicken and stands a good chance of getting run over if it tries to cross the road.

We are at that point. The House, led by Mike Pence, is the only good thing (currently) about our party. Without conservatism we will not be able to continue as a party. We are in dangerous waters.

But we sure don't want to come across as too extreme, or radical do we?

They've proven to be spineless.
The Republicans are handing the Democrats issues on a silver platter, (i.e. illegal aliens).
'06 won't be pretty for the GOP, but I'm coming to the realization that they don't care.
Each party seems to be bent on keeping the opposing party viable, regardless of the mistakes the opposing party makes.
Our governmental system is broken.

We have to be careful. A lot of people voted for Bush because of the war, who otherwise may not have. Schaivo is a good litmus -- they pushed, and came out with egg on their face, as (and I could have told you this), common wisdom -- which "wisdom" and "fanatical religion" do not exist in the same brain -- is that most people DON'T want to be kept alive in a vegetative state. I, personally, agree with that.

It looks like we have enough public support to look OK with the Senate Rule Change -- but, you never know what our RINOs -- and even conservatives -- will wus out on.

I think I will support the Whigs, the party the Radical Republicans replaced.

Uh -- there's that quote about how anyone who wasn't in favor of democracy would keep in tact the illusion of democratic institutions.

They have to keep both parties viable, because they're all in cahoots -- authoritarians are authoritarians -- and too many conservative goals upset the lock that certain people have on how "society works."

I agree with most of this. It seems like nobody can agree with each other on things anymore in politics (this is a really poor sentence by the way:). My feeling though is that the Republicans will do even better in '06. There really isn't a viable opposition right now, but who knows what can happen in a year. Don't give up on goverment quite yet. We still have the best system in the world and a lot of countries would love to have what we do. I don't agree with some of the things even my local and state politicians do, but I do try to look for what good I can do and am thankful that I have the privilege to vote.

This is why politics has become so bleak. The demoncraps are downright evil and the pubbies are hapless and spineless. Its all disgusting.

Well, the name seems appropriate since Minos was well known for his Labyrinth, a confusing maze indeed ... ;-)

If Repub's don't step up to the plate on dealing with aliens, they will be in trouble. The old, where else you gonna go threat, isn't going to work. Sooooooo, if they want to keep their jobs, and do we the great unwashed a little favor and throw us a crumb to keep us happy, then they best understand that for many, aliens, (and judges) will be THE issue of '06. The money will dry up and they will lose or listen to us. If they will not do anything about aliens, we know the dems won't either anyway, so WE lose anyway. Fact of the matter, the push for illegal voting will be huge in '06. Fox is pushing it. No telling what the state legislatures or the judges will do to let illegal aliens vote, or to stop any effort to validate voting is done by citizens only. '06 may be THE LAST election where American citizens only (dems and pubs) have a voice.

In addition, they, along with his eminence, Mexican President Vicente Fox, believe they should be allowed to vote in our elections as well as Mexico's, even if they know less English than I know Greek

LULAC's apparent attempt to denigrate the meaning and value of U.S. citizenship extends to the franchise. In The 1998 LULAC Legislative Platform, the organization appears to condone, if not actually promote, the violation of this country's election laws. According to the section entitled ''Voter Registration and Citizenship'' ''LULAC actively encourages eligible Hispanics to fully participate in the democratic process and register to vote. We also encourage those who are eligible to become citizens'' (italics added). Since the law states one must be a U.S. citizen in order to be eligible to vote, the wording of this LULAC platform encourages voter fraud.

• MALDEF successfully lobbied for passage of the ''motor-voter'' bill of 1993 that allows voter registration at welfare offices or when applying for a drivers' license; mandates mail-in voter registration and discourages States from verifying the applicant's eligibility or citizenship.
