I'm currently holding an electric bill from 12/19/2001 to 1/08/2002 and my next to most recent bill (3/9/2005 to 4/6/2005. Both from Southern California Edison. My current was not used because it has one day of Summer rate charges and I didn't want to try and find my old $400 Davis summer bills. They are true, I didn't make that up.

In the 2001/2002 Dec/Jan bill I used 1,302 kWh (kilowatt hours) and was charged $242.22 (includes taxes and fess). For an average of $0.1860/kWh. Yes I got nailed for 201%-300% charges at $.23645 and Over 300% baseline at .25993. Nice Christmas present from the state.

Flash forward to last month with what we know to be recently increased rates, I paid $162.44 (this includes all taxes and other charges) for 1107 kWh for an average of $0.1467/kWh. Yes I got hit with an over 101-130% over baseline and a 131-200% over baseline charge (though they now state it as 1-30% and 31-100%) and a "more than 200%" charge rate. Note this is now stated as "more than 100%" on the bill even though under Davis it was stated as "201%-300% of Baseline" and I had an "Over 300% of Baseline" charge as stated above back in the days of Davis.

I notice the absence of a "More than 200%" charge rate (formerly stated as "Over 300% of Baseline" on my 3 years ago bill) even though I clearly overshot my Max Winter Baseline by over 200%. Yet, I do not have that charge structure on my bill. Thus, some of the socialist rate charging structure has been rolled back to not slam me so hard anymore. Thanks Arnold! dc27, can you find a "More than 200%" (fomerly called Over 300% of Baseline) on a recent SCE electric bill? I can't.

Also, the current bills are now broken into Delivery and Generation charges for electricity. It's possible that these vary area by area to more accurately reflect distribution cost. I couldn't tell you. I also have a 2nd far more costly electric provider on my bill than SCE providing 20% of my electricity. This is factored in to the rates too. It's DWR, so I'm sure I'm paying for some worhtless envrionmental electrical generation scheme comprised sometime over the last 30 years. At any rate, it acts to increase my kWh rate significantly, so it can't be a goor source of energy. What I can do is calculate my current kWh rates together and compare them with 3 years ago.

Please note that the 2005 rates I am posting above INCLUDE PAYING BACK THE DWR BOND that was taken out to cover the cost of buying consumers electricity during the supposed energy crisis. The $0.00493 has been added into all rate structures, as it is charged against all rate stuctures. A crisis of incompentance is what the energy crisis should have been called, one we are all still paying for.

Now please tell me where I am paying more for electricity? Perhaps I was just the middle class pigeon being fleeced to provide electricity for a rat controlled area. I don't know.

What I do know is THESE RATES ARE LESS THAN WHAT I PAID UNDER SOCIALIST DAVIS AT EVERY LEVEL; and at the top consumption end, are way less than what I was paying before. Perhaps Arnold is wise to the fact that the middle class can only take so much extortion before they decide to move their income to another state and he didn't want to see that happen.

Is this analysis sufficient for you all to believe that some good came our of Arnold's election? If you want to state that all of this would have happened by just getting rid of Red "don't call me Gray" Davis, then I want you to tell me with a striaght face that Bustamonte would have actually done something about the electricity problem.

As a side note, if businesses were paying the same electric rates as consumers were, I'd guarantee you there would have been no business left in this state long before Davis mucked up electricity in California. Electricity was just another scheme rat and rino politicians used to stick it to the middle class in orde to help the children and the poor. Just not my children though.
