NEW DELHI: Hardly a month after India and China signed a landmark agreement to settle their border dispute, a Chinese Army patrol has intruded deep into Indian territory and stayed there for close to 24 hours before withdrawing on May 10.
The border violation took place in Asafila area of the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
This is the same area where on June 26, 2003, a Chinese Army team had intruded into India, stripped Indian intelligence officials of personal weapons and held them hostage for several hours.Chinese army intrudes into Indian territory (Complete Article)
Let me guess. The left is supporting China.
None of the political parties have spoken as yet. Neither has the govt. This was reported in ToI but expect this to be hushed up. Hmm btw Arunanchal Pradesh if I'm not mistaken is a Congress ruled state. The Left doesn't have much influence in the North East, they are concealed in WB and Kerela.
The left parties supported the first Chinese invasion in the sixties. I wonder if there will be a repeat of that.
The commies stayed mum. They were split betw the pro USSR groups and the pro China groups. They are traitors nevertheless.
I thought that caused the rift between CPI and CPI(M). Anyway, I hope that India realizes that China is trying to exert influence in the Bay of Bengal. At some point they will force an understanding with India that will give China some access to the Bay.
AP is BJP ruled IIRC.
I don't know hoe to respond to 5 soldiers Intruding our land, probably we should have shot them down instead of reporting it.
My guess, they were trying to find tech support.
China already has a mini naval base & electronic intelligence facilities in Burma & is also modernising Chittagong port in Bangladesh. They don't need India's permission to use the Bay as long as it's in international waters. They are also dangling carrots at Indonesia.
