Has there ever been a worse dialog writer for successful films than George Lucas? I saw the original Star Wars a couple years after it came out and was amazed that a film that was so bad could gather such a cult-like devotion.
Who was listening to the dialogue? Not moi. I was watching Han Solo & Princess Leia & Luke Skywalker. I saw original in 1977 at the theater. Star Wars was ahead of its time then. (Still have the movie program thingy from then, too.)
I'd have to agree. Some of the stuff Luke says in Episode IV are just embarrasing. "But I wanted to go the academy this season!"
