Nobel Laureate Emerges as Critic of America

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Iranian human rights lawyer who won the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize blamed American foreign policy for increasing terrorism.

Speaking yesterday at the Stanford Law School graduation, Shirin Ebadi offered no criticism of the government of Iran, which the State Department calls the leading sponsor of international terrorism. She did, however, offer a series of critical remarks about the Bush administration.

"As we can see, the foreign policy of the United States in the Middle East has but increased the acts of terrorism, and even in the United States you are not free of fear," she said. "We must take care that Western countries not take advantage of democracy and human rights and use these concepts as a license to attack other countries."

"The best means to help create democracies in societies ruled by tyrannies is through negotiations, and if that fails, by resorting to the United Nations," she said. "This is the only way, this is the only means.

"It is prejudice and injustice that forces a group to engage in such acts to set themselves and others on fire," she said, arguing that one "must address and destroy the root causes of terrorism."

Ms. Ebadi called on the American government to set up a college or university in a developing country for each one of the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. "Otherwise, resorting to violence will not solve any problems, as violence begets violence," she said.

"For several years now we have been punishing terrorists to eradicate terrorism. However, has the terrorism receded?" she asked. "Clearly the punishment of terrorism is right and needed, but it must be done within the framework of human rights law."

Yes, that is why Israel is at her peace with neighbors today!

The Iranian regime that the EU has embraced, has since 1979 engaged in acts of terrorism either directly or indirectly. Through testimony, documented evidence, UN reports, US State Dept reports, human rights groups and others, Iran's support, participation and financing of terrorism across the world is well documented. Iran has sponsered and/or directed acts of terrorism. That someone who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize could be so ignorant of history and the facts says a lot about the recipitants of this so called award and the validity of the Nobel Peace Prize.

In the trial of an Iranian and four Lebanese for the 1992 killing of Iranian Kurdish dissidents in a Berlin restaurant, a German court in 1997 found the Government of Iran to have implemented a policy of assassinating dissidents abroad. Iran conducted at least 13 such assassinations in 1997.

Iran supports and/or finances: Lebanese Hezbollah, Hamas, PIJ (Palestine Islamic Jihad), PKK (PKK - Kurdistan Worker's Party).

I thought the Nobel committee might have had a good one with this woman. Evidently I was wrong.

Hey lady - if you want a freer Iran, America is the only friend you've got.

There were quite a few of these bozos around before and during WWII, including some of our own U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives. Some folks really believe in appeasement, others, like most of us, do not. That she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize lowers the credibilities of the entire Nobel group, and helps lower its worth. When they give the Peace Prize to real dumba$$es like Jimmy Carter and this yahoo, it does make me wonder what they are really trying to do?

History is of course replete with evidence suporting this position, but the facts are still being compiled.

She is nothing more than a puppet for the filthy mullahs of Iran. It's funny how she forgot to criticize Iran for its support of terror and oppression of it people. The only prize this woman is worthy of comes in the bottom of a Crackerjack box.She is against killing terrorist because they are the people who sign her paycheck and share her backward religion.

What's so different when a Nobel Laureate from Iran criticizes America and Bush than one from Georgia doing the same?
At least the Georgian one got his nomination for a specific reason:
The committee's announced intention: to kick Bush on the shin.

How 'bout if they stop giving weapons with "Kill Americans" engraved on it to their 3-year-olds?
