That's true. But you're being pretty cheap. My mom pays more like $15 / hour and throws in lunch.
She never treated me that good when I worked for her... ;)

I'll not hold my breath for a word from Bush though.Bush didn't make my News Roundup report yet, but stay tuned for any important updates.
News Roundup
From Fox:
- has refused to apologize.
From Ruben Aguilar [Fox's spokesman]:
- read a statement expressing Fox's "enormous respect for minorities, whatever their racial, ethnic or religious origin."
From Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, the archbishop of Mexico City:
- ... said Fox was just stating a fact.
- defended Fox's comments, saying, "The declaration had nothing to do with racism. It is a reality in the United States that anyone can prove."
From State Department spokesman Richard Boucher
- "That's a very insensitive and inappropriate way to phrase this and we would hope that (the Mexicans) would clarify the remarks if they have a chance."
From migrant worker Celedonio Gonzalez, a 35-year-old carpenter:
- "The president was just telling the truth. Mexicans go to the United States because they have to. Blacks want to earn better wages, and the Mexican because he is illegal takes what they pay him."
OK, let's all do our part to keep wages artificially depressed, shall we? Hire an illegal alien today.
To: TexasCajun
Come to Sparks, Nevada. A long time friend who is Black has had his own business with 100% Black employees doing just what you say you've never seen.
I keep threatening to sue him for being racist and not hiring an old white curmudgeon like me but he says he could easily prove that I'd be a environmental danger to his customers plants and animals.
He won't even hire "wetbacks" as Cesaer Chavez called them.

Nor will I. But, what's going on? Is the Bush administration willing to trade our financial well being as a nation, and our security for the riches that low wage workers will bring to a few?
Not just Bush.
Too many people on BOTH sides of the aisle winking at illeagals.
Too much MONEY to be had after all!

President Vicente Fox refused to apologize Monday for saying Mexicans in the United States do the work that blacks won't The comment is bad enough.
There is another issue here. It is President Bush and Congress who keep insisting that Mexicans will do the work that other Americans will not. This is B.S. at its extreme.
If there is work some will not do, the law of supply and demand will cause wages to be raised to the point that somebody WILL do the work. This is a piss poor excuse that Bush and Congress are traitorous about.

I would have agreed with Fox if he had said that some illegal immigrants do the work that Welfare recipients refuse to do. My experience is that would be a fair statement. It would also be a fair statement if he had said that Americans pay welfare to some illegal immigrants.

I completely agree. However, the executive, and legislative branches are controlled by Republicans. Therefore, this is their "watch". They are the ones most to blame, and I believe, they will pay. (Of course, their pockets are currently being lined, so the penalty they pay probably isn't very steep).

What he meant was: He's an elitist bigot.
He thinks all Americans (Gringos) are stupid.
In his country, if you are rich like he is, you can treat the rest of the population like crap.
He has a special disregard for black people. Though I have not been in Mexico lately, I never saw black people there.

Too many people don't want to pay a decent wage.
They kind of like the whole Dickensian Industrial motif...you know: starvation wages, 16 hour work days, hazardous working conditions, six days a week and zero health-care and the workers had bloody well better be grateful for the opportunity!
(and OH! How the money rolls in!)
And a bunch of them post right here on FR.
They can't pull that crap with honest citizens, but they CAN do it to illeagals.
So they do.

If he said that, I would agree with him. Yet that's not what he said. He specifically said black people which just shows you where he's coming from.

I saw your comment and I wanted to add that the welfare king queen do come in many different "colors".
That needs to be said here.
I too made the comparison of welfare recipient's and I know for a fact that American welfare recipients are 99% LAZY - and they are NOT from one ethnic group.
To: TexasCajun
I never thought of it before, but I never do see a "Black" lawn crew, regardless of what part of town I'm in!Same goes for any other labor-intensive job!
So maybe there is truth in what Fox says, but that doesn't mean I support open borders!
There's very little truth to what Fox is saying. He leaves out the fact for years now (and this has happened slowly, over aproximately the last 30 years) Mexicans have been coming here illegally and undercutting Americans' wages. Eventually, this "cheap labor" drove Americans out of those job arenas.
The following quote from the article about sums it up, except that it has affected all Americans, not just Blacks.
Migrant worker Celedonio Gonzalez, a 35-year-old carpenter: "The president [Fox] was just telling the truth. Mexicans go to the United States because they have to. Blacks want to earn better wages, and the Mexican because he is illegal takes what they pay him."
To: cyborg
I know Cy. The whole thing is just a mess.
To: tiamat
"I personally feel that anyone who hires illeagals should be fined and jailed. "
I'm with you on that one! But, neither of us is making millions on the use of such labor, so I guess we don't get a say in it. And when the Republicans are voted out, and Democrats are voted in, it will be status quo.
