Actually, appointing Casey to replace Specter is a best-case scenario. At least he's pro-gun and, compared to Arlen, pro-life. I wouldn't put it past Rendell to appoint Allyson Schwartz, from the Philly area, who is so liberal she makes Hillary look like Rick Santorum. Rendell is up for re-election and his numbers aren't great.....so he's liable to want to throw some type of bone to Philly voters, without whom he hasn't got a shot in hell of winning. So far, he has managed to distance himself from the corruption trials in Philly, but who is to say that that won't change at some point.
A dem that is pro life is meaningless. Harry Reid is pro life but you'd never know it when he blocks good conservative judges like Bill Pryor.
What good will Casey be if he votes to block cloture with harry reid on pro life judges like Bill Pryor.

As bad as spector is at least he will vote for cloture for an up or down vote on the likes of Bill Pryuor. I want the likes of Spector out because they undercut what we worked so hard for in the election. But don't thnk you will get anything good by voting for Casey.
Casey will be just as bad as Salazar who pretended he is conservative and wanted an up or down vote but is now going to fillabuster good conservative judges.
A good question to ask Casey would be will he vote for cloture on judges like estrada, pryor, janice rodgers brown, owens. If he says no he is useless and if he says yes I wouldn't trust him.
