Knowledgeable insiders have long characterized Powells meteoric rise from colonel to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as based on exceptional skills at bureaucratic infighting and deft wielding of the press leak stiletto. But the general public sees only the picture of high-minded public servant. In the wake of the disclosure that he is attempting to use his wiles to torpedo the nomination of John Bolton as the US Ambassador to the United Nations, it is high time to break out the kryptonite and honestly appraise the record and actions of Colin Powell.

I do not know if he has done so or not. Repeated reports on FR have never had any proof (and we all know how well they do with checking sources...a la Newsweek).
No point in getting mad yet. We will find out facts eventually, and then we can get mad at whoever deserves it.

AMEN TO THAT! Unfortunately, Colin is not the Conservative Hawk some imagine him to be....
I blame Powell for the mess in Iraq because he lost Turkey, from where the northen front was supposed to launch.

I thought he was transparent in the Iraq war. He obstructed Bush, deflecting him into the quest for UN approval. Powell cam very close to preventing the whole war there. Sure, he tried to cover it over a bit at times. Once his obstruction had clearly failed, he "got on board". But it was obvious to me he was sabotauging Bush's agenda. Bush should have told him to get on board or be dumped.
