Rendell will not appoint a Republican to take Spector's place
Plus .. Santorum is up for relection in 06 and the dems will want to pick up both Senate seats
But it's very interesting, either way..If Rendell were to appoint Casey to Arlen's seat, it means that he's sure that Casey could defeat Santorum. So he gives Casey the vacant seat..and gives him a leg up in the Senate. That means that Santorum would be safe, and that Toomey would challenge Casey in 2006.and he will take NO prisoners this time..It looks good for the GOP..and we get a new SJC chair immediately..
