C-span

Posted on 05/16/2005 9:54:06 AM PDT by ken5050

OK, folks..let's se what going to happen today as we move closer to the showdown in the Senate. Live, at 1 PM EST on C-span 2, "Searchlight" Reid is holding a presser to discuss judicial nomination. The Senate then convenes at 2PM, and as Majority Leader, Frist will make the opening statement. Then Reid will speak. Frist as pissed at Reid last week..for announcing a possible compromise on the Senate floor without FIRST telling him of it..and Frist has yet to speak about Reid's comments about FBI files. Should be fireworks..

Who is Casey?

Bob Casey, Jr.

He's the late Gov of PA's son and supposedly pro-life

Rumor has it that Schummer made some kind of deal to get him to run against Santorum in 06..

part of it being that though he would talk pro-life .. but if election Senator of PA .. he would NOT vote pro-life

Bottom line .. IMO .. Casey, jr. is a fraud

"Let's call him "Horrid Harry" from now on!"

There's always "Pond Scum Harry!" (Ya know, from a nuclear cooling pond?)

We could make a list a mile long of things we regret.

I regret EVER defending Colin Powell.

the democrats would use the nuke option were the situation reversed.

And they would be right to do so, the voters have spoken and we won 22% more Senate seats (55-45) that the Dems in the last election where judicial obstruction was a campaign issue. Minority rights is a sham, what is magic about 40? What if the minority had 35?

I for one will be glad to see the Rule Change, but I think the Dems may decide to roll over on the appelate judges and let them get a vote, hoping to filibuster the SCOTUS nominees eventually.

I hope that I am wrong and that they cbstruct one of the judges this week so we can get this over with.

Are you kidding me?

IMO ... The Dems are no longer in control

They are being pushed from behind to say and act like this

Minority rights is a sham

As is "bipartisan," IMO. It's time for our guys to stop being MINOs!

We didn't have the votes in 02 or 04 and frist only now has 44 solid votes for the nuclear option, he can can probably get 47 or 48, but spector, hagel, warner are not moving.

All those bush voters that voted for that pos salazar really hurt us and also losing so many close elections in the recent years in the house.

If it weren't for people that vote for the libertarians and constitution party frist would have the votes for the nuclear option.

Harry Reid won by 421 votes in 98 and the libertarian party got 8,000 votes

Cantwell won by 2,000 votes

Landreui won by 6,000 votes in 96

Ben Nelson who will vote against the nuclear option won by 12,000 votes

Stabenow won by 44,000 votes

Libertarian and constitution parties elected a lot of these democrats and the votes for these parties is the reason why Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid are the kingmakers on the judges.

I remember Powell saying he did the obligatory thingy and submitted his resignation with all the others for the second term and was surprised when Bush accepted it. Condi has a great future in politics if she wants one.

I regret the day I voted for McCain.

At least you didn't vote for Perot.

Hopefully.

I suspect the dems will retreat for now. But they'll be back when it comes time for a SCOTUS appointment.

If that is what happens, then we will have to keep the pressure on, as you say.

Personally I just as soon see it all come to a head right now and call the dems hand on shutting down the Senate.

If they are retreating, then push them on in to the river and get it over with. I wouldn't give them a chance to try and regroup. But that's me.

It's my opinion now that it's been Powell all along doing the "leaking" and anti-Bush talking at State.

POS.
