I'm thinking that Anakin/Darth is more comparable to bin Laden than Bush. But in any case, when one is fighting an enemy who seeks to destroy you, is there any room for fence straddling? In the WoT, many of our activities involve shutting down financial assets, rooting out nests of jihadists, and eliminating safe havens for terrorists to gather and train. If a country is not cooperative along these fronts, they truly are the enemy in this War.
Is it mandatory that one lose 60 IQ points immediately upon joining the entertainment industry?
It is unbelievable as to the thinking of the people who say this. There are no parallels. In Iraq, we are not fighting a government, much less one who is backed by a communist superpower. We are fighting a band of thugs, who couldn't run a government if their lives depended upon it.
This is bow crap...
Leftist frenchie moonbats see the evil bush on every card of the rorschach ink blot test.
Shoot, Jesus said that, too.
"When I wrote it, Iraq (the U.S.-led war) didn't exist... but the parallels of what we did in Vietnam and Iraq are unbelievable."
"Most bad people think they're good people."
Well...at least we know where the clunky writing and cheesy mysticism comes from.
George Lucas??
Wasn't he one of the Dixie Chicks?
"Meesa just ... clumsy."
As usual, libs trying to glom onto someone else's work.
Lucas wrote this stuff years ago, they're just projecting their own views onto the template.
Thinly veiled diatribes against anything Republican have been in Hollywood movies and books for years...I believe the bright side is that these views are finally being called out and challenged. When I was younger the double whammy of mainstream media, Hollywood and college professors formatted my views, now there is a dissenting opinion heard, which gives people the chance to make up their own minds. I did not see liberal bias until I began to see the wisdom of conservative/Republican viewpoints a couple years ago.
Where before indoctrination has gone unnoticed or unchallenged they can't get away with it while the right sits back and takes it. I'll still go see Star Wars as I've always loved the story, but I go with my indoctrination blinders on.
And why is this "breaking news"?
I tend to agree with Lucas that this country is losing it's democratic ideals. This whole black and white "with us or against us" mentality is unrealistically simplistic in the modern world. Churches are wanting to excommunicate democrats, Republicans want to do away with the filibuster since it is getting in their way of having things the way that they want it. If you speak against the current administration, you are some sort of Anti American scum that should be branded and sent off to some camp somewhere. The extremism in this country is pretty frightening.
He acknowledged an uncomfortable feeling that the United States was in danger of losing its democratic ideals, like in the movie.
I feel the same.
Lucas has directly, and unambiguously, denied the account presented in this article. Lucas noted that the screenplay was written before the Iraq military action.
Note that this lazy article didn't even bother to contact Lucas.
Obviously, somebody has way too much time on thier hands.
Another nail in the Hollywood coffin - another reason to download movies off the internet.
Unless noted before, the script for this was started years ago - like in the 70's. This just comes from liberal blog groups that see "hate Bush" in every little thing in life.
Sometimes a movie is just a movie and the review of one should never be considered breaking news no matter how tinfoiled the interpretation.
