Carnage in Iraq (WPost--"United States is right")
The Washington Post ^ | May 15, 2005 | Editorial

Posted on 05/15/2005 8:50:00 PM PDT by Ooh-Ah

...

Yet, as the insurgents increasingly go after Iraqi civilians, one thing has become clear: Theirs is not, as many people maintained before the Jan. 30 elections, a struggle against American "occupation." It is a fight against a legitimate government trying to operate under the principle of self-rule -- and trying for the most part, notwithstanding terrible provocations, to include every ethnic group. As Mr. Rumsfeld said, their only strategy is butchery. That doesn't mean they are sure to lose; their barbarism can go a long way toward slowing the economic and political progress that Mr. Rumsfeld said is necessary. It does mean that the United States is right to help the Iraqis battle back.

Man, if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow, then we know the New York Times has run a similar story.

Looks like the "elite of America" are as slow as a sloth in a standstill race. Unbelievable! The red states knew this when, 9/12/01?

Well, on the positive side it seems "the elite of America" do learn however slow. That is more than you can say for Germany, France and Russia. They I suppose area slower than a sloth in a standstill race.

Isn't Newsweak the sister pub of the WP?

Is this a little "mea culpa" from the management, for the Isikoff disaster?

For some reason the left wing papers are turning against the insurgency. It may be that they even are trying to advise the terrorists to target the United States. I'm glad they are criticizing the terrorists, but think about the sick sick attitude underlying the editorial. They are saying the insurgency would be valid and in the interests of the Iraqi people if it was aimed only at the American "occupiers." It's as though the press has picked up on the fact the terrorists are making a big "mistake."

I met someone today who is ready to stop her subscription to the Washington Post because of the editorial earlier this week on Bolton,
The nominee is intelligent and qualified; we still see no compelling reason to deny the president his choice."

With the Oil-for-Food piece today, the Bolton and Iraq editorials, I just may re-subscribe!

Williams, I like the way you think.

I thought I was the only one out here to attribute such underhanded motives to this left wing libseral press machine, but I was wrong.

And that fact makes me have hope.

I really do feel the liberal press may be a malicious source of propaganda. They are powerful. Many people believe what they read.

Ok Ok, the United States is right - but at least we might still lose! And that means, it is all Bush's fault.

It is called circulation numbers. The WAPO is losing business because they are only catering to 45% of the population.

There is a large market to tap and this means writing fair and balanced stories. This is why FOX news is killing everyone.

This is what makes the Free Republic so valuable. Great analysis.

The pigs are grounded and hell doesn't need to defrost. Its the same Washington Post, folks.
