I don't think he wants it either--and I don't think Lynn would want him to have to go through the SH!T he would have to go through as a candidate--he has served this country well, and deserves some time with his family, IMHO.
BUT, what is to keep Bush, after 2006, if he likes Frist, and Frist is no longer a senator, from replacing Cheney with Frist for two years....or even George Allen?
It was not a poplular idea, but I wouldn't have been surprised if Cheney had "stepped aside" last summer, I thought that the leaking of further heart problems was possibly a way to "set the stage" for it.

Well, he cannot replace Cheney in 2007 without Cheney's consent, as the v.p. is really elected and not appointed.
