They kidnapped this guy, didn't get what they wanted for him, and decided it was better to let him go than get in a blood feud with the West Elbonian Tribe across their main supply lines.

I suspect this guy was giving information to the insurgency as to where we were and how we were going to attack,don't you all remember how we kept making raids but finding only military supplies someone from this providence has been tipping them off
