McCain would turn off all the voters in this part of the country. Hillary, or whoever, could win by default because too many GOPers would simply stay home and not vote.

I guess the big question remains is there a Conservative- in-hiding who is capable of pulling off a bill clinton of 92 trick in time, to get the GOP nod for 08.

Powell did what he always does, stabbed from behind the curtains. Doesn't say much for him.
Remember all those near the end of the last century who were touting Powell to run for the Presidency. Imagine where we'd be if he had run and won.
I hope those same people 'know' more about the candidates when they toss out names of perspectives for 08. Just because a face looks good on TV or a person has a high position does not mean that person has the credentials and positions desirable in a future presidential candidate.

One of the commercials during FNS was the "anti-Senate rules change" commercial brought to you by People for the anti-American Way. Interesting timing...

Allen seems to be the current front runner. But, who knows? The front runner has never won the Kentucky Derby. Time will tell anyway, and it's a bit early to predict who would win the GOP side. OTOH, Hillary has a lock on the Dem side.

Not me. I only needed the one... for now. Besides, your comment earlier put you too far ahead to catch up.
To: Morgan in Denver
I think it's still early yet for our side and who knows we could get lucky with Hillary's campaign woes. She definitely has some liability there if it is ever exposed.

Is FNS now 90 minutes?
I don't get it until 10 am CDT. TV schedule still shows it running 60 minutes. Dang, if it runs 30 longer, it will bump the real estate infomercial. I'd just hate that. [I had that 30 minutes slotted to clip my toenails and count the dandelions in the yard.]

Well, we can take it to the bank that Freepers will expose Hillary big time. The question has to be whether or not the MSM will pick up on it? I doubt it since they keep giving her cover. But, who knows?

That was great - CHRIS, LOOK !!!!!
To: Right_in_Virginia
not sure, but think her name is Nina Easton - Boston Globe.

Not filabustering judicial candidates is the RESTORATION of a 200 years senate practice.
I finally heard on Pubbie spokesman get it right this morning on Fox and Friends Weekend, when they were having their discussion. Of course, the Dem lady spokesperson rambled the same old talking points.
It is too bad that more Pubbie spokespeople can't get it right -- the Dems under Daschle are the ones who changed the rules and established the new precedent; it is not 200 years old, nor does it change the 200 year filibuster rules; Daschle was the one who changed those.

I was wondering the same thing. It was like he almost wanted it to be something, so it would be similar to 9/11, and W not running from the classroom.

"The question has to be will the MSM ever pick up on it"(Hillary's campaign scandal)
I seriously doubt it. She and Bubba seem to have that Teflon don thing going for them.
Now watching Stuffy stephy on ABC without David talking to George Will about the United pension fiasco...worried it will spread to to other corps. Will says the govt. will be the pension provider of last resort.

I heard that too. About time, IMHO. I'd like to see more of that happen.

I wonder if this [duck dinner] is a subtle hint and recommendation to Reid about his conduct next week when Rep guns start firing in the Senate. Better than goose. "This goose is cooked, and yours will be too if you object to giving a nominee the vote."
