Thanks for the ping, Quix. I'll be sure to tune in.
Not if the planet had intelligent life.
Got someone whose going to TIVO this for me, do you realize it is four hours long? From 8 till midnight.
That trailer was way kool!
Looks like the democrat convention.
Indulge me, please.
Pretend that all this fluff about imaginary creatures that are guesses built upon guesses built upon guesses multiple layers deep . . .
Pretend that all the stuff the show has shown is distraction. That the message intended from the program is rather subtle, covert.
What would the purpose of the program be?
I'm watching it now. I missed the first fifteen minutes, so I have no opinion yet.
UNDERSTAND. Thanks.
If we discovered an Earth-like planet the envirofreaks on Earth would declare it off limits claiming it must be preserved as a park.
You may well be right about me and "idiot."
But such characters drearily weary me sometimes.
I would submit that diamonds would have no more value than soot had God not created us with standards of beauty and value which accrue to such phenomena as scarcity influencing value.
But I have too many other priorities to draw that out tediously.
Thanks for your kind response.
Maybe the beginning of subtle preparation of the masses for some disclosure of alien presence? I watched the program, and realize that there was a lot of thought and imaginative work put into it, but I found it uncomfortable to watch for some reason.
You think a lot deeper on subjects like this than I do, Quix. What do you think about this program? I'll watch for your comment tomorrow, I'm tired, and my pillow is calling...
> diamonds would have no more value than soot had God not created us with standards of beauty and value which accrue to such phenomena as scarcity influencing value.
As far as beuaty... diamonds are hardly more beautiful than many a far more available substance. And as far as value in scarcity... that's basic economics.
The notion that random meaningless chance can produce anything greater than random meaningless chance is the height or more accurately the Z number last depths of illogic.
About as much as I want to go into it.
Thanks for your kind reply.
> The notion that random meaningless chance can produce anything greater than random meaningless chance is ...
...pretty basic stuff. For instance, I've seen people pay good money for "art" which was the result of random actions creating items of undisputed complexity and beauty.
My shower and pillow are calling, too.
I agree. Very creative. But the scientists were brash arrogant pontificators, to me. Soooooo much over the top presumption.
I was uncomfortable with it, too.
I think prep for aliens is always an agenda on such programs.
But there seemed to be something even more sinister that I can't put my finger on quite yet . . .
Perhaps it was something along the line that there is no right or wrong. There is no God. There is only existence and death. Nothing makes any difference. But ain't the drama fun.
Woop woop. Nonsense.
I think it was the underlying nihlism that disturbed me so much. Hard to say.
We may find life, Jim... But not as we know it... ;o)
Ditto.......
> Perhaps it was something along the line that there is no right or wrong. There is no God.
I sure would like to see the trail of "logic" that leads you to think such a bizarre thing. No mention of gods, positive or negative, was made.
Or perhaps you think God is so limitted that he created this entire universe, but only allowed the birth and evolution of life to occur once?
Well if God is involved, there will likely be beetles.
