Government by coalition is so un-American in policy.
I always find it difficult to understand, especially when there are SO MANY "coalitions."
The more coalitions, is seems, the more compromise of issues, values and prinicples there has to be to stay in power.
In the end, it SEEMS as if nothing much gets accomplished.

My question is, when we help set up governments around the world (from Japan to Iraq), why do we push a euro style parliamentary system instead of the US style of 3 branch republic?

The Parliamentary form of government sure sets up unstable situations. Italy is the worst but Israel and others have frequent turnovers in government too, instead of trying to work it out until the next election.
