IRVING, Texas - The moment was packed with the kind of tension usually seen only at a major. In the locker room at the Byron Nelson Championship, players huddled around the television as Tiger Woods stood over a 15-foot putt. Upstairs in the family dining area, about 60 people set down their silverware and stopped their chatter to watch. On the course, the 1,500 fans surrounding the 18th green went stone silent.
They witnessed something that had not happened on the PGA Tour in seven years and 142 tournaments.
Woods missed the cut.
"Every guy in the locker room was watching," Jesper Parnevik said. "We're not allowed to bet, but guys were offering $1,000 he would make it."
No wonder there were no takers.
Woods made a slippery 6-foot birdie putt at Torrey Pines three years ago to make the cut on the number. He made a downhill par putt from 4 feet in the Masters two years ago to do the same thing. And who can forget that 6-foot putt in the 2000 PGA Championship to force a playoff, or that 15-footer in the dark at the Presidents Cup.
Maybe that's what was so surprising about this one.
He studied the line from both sides, consulted his caddie, then stood over the ball and went through his routine. One look at the cup. Shift his feet and give it another look. A third look and pull the trigger.
The ball broke gently to the right toward the cup, then flattened out in the final 6 inches and trickled by, a dramatic end to one of the greatest streaks in sports.

Good luck, Ernie.
Yeah no kidding. Besides I'm sure Tiger likes being out of the limelight sometimes to tend to his marriage. Waiting for a tiger cub. He needs to get going my mother insists *lol*
Streak ping......
But seriously, this seven year streak was an incredible accomplishment!
And, I'm expecting a 'Tiger cub' before he misses another cut.
I believe it was this putt that I was watching in an airport bar. The place was pretty busy and those watching the tube gave a collective "WOW" when he made it. Made everybody else who hadn't been paying attention watch for the replay.
I love to watch pro-golf. I love to be amazed. And I find satisfaction when I also see them make a bad drive or putt. Massages my ego just a little bit....LOL
Golf is not a sport. It's a pastime, a hobby, a stroll through the grass....
That's what happens when one gets tangled up with women. So long Tiger, been nice knowin' ya......... /sarcasm
Yeah right...... and Hillary is not a socialist. Get a grip.
It's apparent that you are clueless on this matter. Try walking 24 miles and playing brilliant golf.
Meds please.
LOL I think that myth is exactly that... a myth. A wife can help a golf game if she wants to :-)
Uh-huh. A stroll through "the grass". Except if you have a slice. Then it resembles....
THIS....

ROFL!
I despise Jack Nicklaus for a reason that I won't get into but I had the satisfaction of being about 20 feet behind him at the Seniors TPC in Dearborn a bunch of years ago when his drive was off to the right of the fairway in tall thick grass stuff about 3 feet high. Took him 3 shots just to get his ball back on the fairway. Revenge was very sweet to me that day........
Try telling that to the high school golf kids who have to carry their bags up and down hills, in 90 degree heat, for over 7000 yards. You may wind up with a club wrapped around your neck.
Huh? Who walks 24 miles? You mean over a four day period with your every whim catered to? Oh my! What exertion! You get a grip. Golf is a pastime, a hobby, a stroll through the woods or the grass. It's like billiards or bowling.
You must be kidding, right? I play three sets of tennis in the same heat for two hours. No comparison. Not even close.
I kind of agree. But comparing it to say, tennis or fencing, where you have to move quickly, keep your balance, counter an opponents moves and thoughts just doesn't hold water.
