Reward now at $100,000 Authorities fear suspect may have fled into Mexico

By Fernando Quintero, Charlie Brennan and Brian D. Crecente, Rocky Mountain News May 13, 2005

LOS ANGELES - The reward for suspected cop killer Raul Garcia-Gomez jumped to $100,000 Thursday as the national manhunt focused on the Los Angeles area and police began to fear that their suspect might already have slipped into Mexico.

"I've got a message for Raul Garcia-Gomez and your friends," said Denver police Division Chief Dave Fisher, who is leading the investigation in California. "You can run, but you can't hide. We are going to find you, we have a committed task force including the FBI, the U.S. Marshal's Office and the immigration office."

Anyone that provides information leading to the arrest of Raul Garcia-Gomez could pay a lot of bills and make serve justice in helping to catch this cop killer that may be in the greater LA or Las Vegas areas where he has family.

Isn't this the guy who worked at the restaurant owned by Denver's mayor? And continued to work there after the Mayor had been told that he was an illegal?

Mexico will protect this murderer, just like they're protecting many others.

The restaurant is the Denver Cherry Cricket where he was a dishwasher. His right to be in the US expired April 5. I am not sure about the Owner of the restaurant, but will check, and whether or not the Owner knew his visa expired.

It is certainly a great fear for many. With the Colorado death penalty in place, Mexico is not likely to allow extradition. I only hope we can get this guy in LA where they found the car. If he hasn't left the country, it will be difficult to do so now. Say a prayer for the 2 little girls of Detective Donald Young and his wife.

...the national manhunt focused on the Los Angeles area and police began to fear that their suspect might already have slipped into Mexico.

Law enforcement personnel (who selectively enforce the law) in two santuary cities (Denver and L.A.) bitching about policies their head honchos endorse. The rank-and-file officers need to start speaking out.

Unfortunately, they are likely correct in assuming that this cop killer is already in Mexico.

If this clown is in Mexico he'll be safe along with several other suspected cop killers our so-called friend refuses to extradite.

No news in the LA Slimes...I can't believe it. I have lost all respect for that newspaper. Any other sources that might be out there in CA carrying this manhunt story?

Do a search on it, there are stories on Free Republic about Mayor John Hickenlooper co-owning the restaurant, and that he was warned about the change in status. Mayor Hickenlooper is a supporter of Denver's "sanctuary" policy.

The Cherry Cricket is partially owned by the mayor John Hickenlooper, as are many other restaurants around town (I used to work at a bar he owned), but his interests have been placed in a trust and he has had nothing to do with the operations of his restaurants since being elected. There's really not much to this "mayor harboring illegals for his own personal gain" angle.

I saw a story on this on the Los Angeles local news last night, but due to poor reporting, they made it sound as if he ambushed the detectives as they were leaving a baptism.

Police who were assigned to security would not allow re-entry of Garcia-Gomez into the event, and he chose to allow Donald Young to turn his back before he shot him in the head 3 times from behind, then shot Officer Bishop who survived due to his bullet proof vest.

Thank you, though I was aware of the true story. I was noting that it was reported innacurately on the local channel here in LA, seemingly to make it more "dramatic," like something out of the Godfather. So, in answer to your original question, it is getting coverage here, but it is distorted.

Dawg's TV show is a disgrace. What a weak operation they run...it looks like a 2nd rate insurance sales office run with people who have no clue how to run a real bounty business and have hit and miss good luck. In no way would I want to hire him...why? So he can bring his can of mace with him? LMAO...please...give me Steve McQueen from The Hunter anyday...I want my bounty hunters carrying heat...not mace thank you very much.
