I remember when "Mad Dog' was on the loose. He robbed mom & pop stores and had a habit of killing'em after getting the money. My old man drove us past a store that he hit... Italian section of Hartford.

Thanks for posting. I'm so sorry for the loss of all the families and friends. I watched that MSNBC show of Michael Ross last night and he was demon.

I too have struggled with the idea of capital punishment. You are absolutely right that this is not a situation for jokes or politicizing or for simple ignorant relishing of death to the guilty.

Thanks for being so eloquent.

Ross murdered my freshman college roommate, Dzung Tu. I was up at the prison the night Ross was executed with Dzung's brother. I know that it was a relief to Dzung's family that Ross was put to death, and I am glad that they are feeling a small measure of relief. Still I refuse to see Ross in simplistic terms, of being a monster. I grieve not just for Dzung's life, but for his wasted life too.

Also, I saw that the day after the execution that Dzung's brother looked sadder than I had ever seen him. The grief will always be there for him, even though the killer is gone.

I got your freep mail, and i just don't know what to say. The pain these men feel is greater than anything i can imagine. If/when you talk to them again, please let them know that there are so many people out there in this world who are praying for them.

I can't help but think about the Abraham Lincoln quote from Saving Private Ryan: "I pray that our heavenly father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved lost."

May God have have mercy on their precious young souls.
