050512-N-1350S-003 Persian Gulf (May 12, 2005) - Motor Vessel Olympias burns in the early morning hours. Sailors stationed aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Mustin (DDG 89) rescued 27 people from the burning vessel in the Persian Gulf 27 miles off of the coast of Iran. Mustin is currently deployed with the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group, currently on a scheduled deployment in support of the global war on terrorism. 050512-N-9446C-012 Persian Gulf (May 12, 2005) - Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate Gary Arehart, assists a Motor Vessel Olympias crew member aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) after being transferred from the guided missile destroyer, USS Mustin (DDG 89). Mustin Sailors rescued 27 people from the Olympias after an engine-room fire engulfed the vessel. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is currently deployed and is conducting operations in support of multi-national forces in Iraq and maritime security operations to help set the conditions for security and stability in the region.
