I recall the first time we had Cambodian refugees housed in our apartment building in Arlington.

These guys were NOT FROM CITIES and were a tad primitive. All the stray dogs disappeared, and next thing you know we had people setting fires in the middle of the living room floors.

The social services people got someone in there to teach them about light switches and flush toilets and then it was OK.

In the end I picked up several pieces of embroidery relating the "Creation of the Animals" from some nice old ladies. We also know a young woman whose folks escaped from there who is presently in our Army driving a truck in bandit country in Iraq.

Pray for her safety.

My son-in-law tells me that in Holland, they slaughter their lambs and sheep on outdoor balconies of their apartments, and let the blood run down into the streets. That's also "a tad primitive."
