Actually, the way I read the article, it seems like they are trying to say that these parents appear to be doing good things like home-schooling. They state that the children seem well spoken and well educated, that the house was clean and orderly and that there was a variety of good food available to eat in the house. The malnourishment seemed odd for parents who seemed otherwise very conscientious.

I agree, tho' I think the article tries too hard to make the parents look good. You have to be pretty out of it not to know that there is something wrong with a 12 lb three year old. My brief comment pertains more to the anti-home schooling people with an agenda who will read this and say "Look - another case of home schooling parents abusing their children. Something must be done about this!" Or some such...
