Don't bet on legalized gambling in Texas

Backers say opposition has momentum despite public's support

AUSTIN – Forget about hearing the "ka-ching" of slot machines in Texas this year.

That's the prediction of most gambling supporters, beaten back by opposition from a coalition of conservative Republicans and anti-gaming Democrats.

We are about to have the biggest tax increase shoved down our throats and these RINO maggots won't even let the public decide? This is outrageous. A true conservative would not oppose this as while gambling may not be desireable, it is optional.

We can't have slots, where the house takes, at most 20% or 30% of all bets, because that would be swingling people who don't know better out of their money. But the state can run a lottery and take 50% of all ticket sales and that is fine.

Just so I'm clear.
