Yep, one of Bush's nominees, Saad.
He said that if anybody thought he was a good choice they should "go upstairs and look at his FBI file."
That is just NOT done in these situations.
He's disgusting. And I think he does stuff like that on purpose.

I know---and I hope Baucus has to get back on the Senate floor and retract his words so they aren't left in the official Senate records...Their misquoting Bolton, reminds me of lawyers who say something when they know the judge will instruct the jury to disreagrd it.
Like planting a seed in their minds.

Well, that is a major NO-NO and I guess a bunch of senators are furious because it is not supposed to be out in the open that they keep FBI files on everyone.Snort. They didn't mind the Toons making off with a bunch of them...

On the John Bachelor radio program last week Bachelor said that one of the Foounding Fathers (Madison, I think) warned about the Senate...said that it would turn out to be like having 100 DukesThe Senate is our very own House of Lords, filled with scores of Upper Class Twits of the Year.

if you don't believe me, just go upstairs and look at their FBI file." I just put my hand over my mouth in astonishment.

I pulled your post and brought it to another thread. It's something that everyone needs to know about. I hope you don't mind. When I saw it, I couldn't believe he let the cat out of the bag in such a in your face way. I reacted, sorry if I was wrong to do so. I pinged you.

Reid is slime. I've always detested him. He hasn't apologized for the Bush is a loser remark yet, and he won't.
He must have a self-destruct mechanism implanted. Or else he's not up for election soon.
Talk about preserving Senate values--he just trashed them with that remark about FBI files.
Shades of Bill and Hillary.

Sen. Reid was talking about some of the nominees that Bush has put forth and how bad they were and Reid said "if you don't believe me, just go upstairs and look at their FBI file." Ah...just another "administrative snafu" courtesy of the Democrat party.

That BS was OVER THE LINE and I sure as hell don't like that kind of threat made be Reid
How about we take a look at Kerry's FBI file ??
Every dang Dem would be screaming up a storm if a Republican Senator pulled that stunt on him

Well, that is a major NO-NO and I guess a bunch of senators are furious because it is not supposed to be out in the open that they keep FBI files on everyone. Also, supposedly, only the Senators of the state that the nominee comes from are allowed to see the FBI files of that person. But, Reid spilled the beans about any of the Senators being able to look at the FBI files whenever they want to..... They better be furious
That was a direct threat made by Reid and it was over the dang line too!!

Wow. I knew that it was a Senate tradition to allow a Senator from the state of the nominee to put a hold on him, in secret if need be. I also am aware that the FBI can start a file on almost anyone. I assume these judges already have a file if they are federal employees or are nominees for a federal position. I guess Big Brother is alive and well. The problem with these raw files is that a lot of the information has not be validated. Baseless accusations are included.
When Clinton was being impeached, I do recall the Reps encouraging people to look at the files as they pertained to Anita Broderick.

Plus, what if one of their aides get ahold of information that could put the judge in danger---
This is just awful---I think it probably is true and I hate that for these people. To have to go through the demeaning insults that they do during confirmation and debate, and also knowing that ANY senator, with any agenda can get ahold of their FBI files, just wouldn't be worth is to me!

Exactly. We put people through this meat grinder destroying personal reputations all in the name of partisan politics. The Dems are far more ruthless and dispicable in this regard. They are the ones who pperfected the art of personal destruction on Bork and Thomas. It is a wonder we get anyone to apply for these jobs.
