Backgound - a moderate pastor and his associate have been suspended and ordered to stay away from the church by a presbytery appointed committee with ties to the pro-homosexual rights wing of the mainline PCUSA.
That alone would merit posting in the religion forum instead of here, but given that the vote was taken after readings from the Koran and prayers to Allah, I thought that it might engender broader interest.
The vote which was ruled invalid was in support of the pastors.

More PC nonsense from a leftist church.

The part that's offensive to Christianity is this:
"Give us grace to hear your truth in the teachings of Mohammed, the prophet...." The business about referring to "God" as "Allah" is consistent with the practice of Arabic speaking Orthodox Christians.
"Allah" is just a word. There is no such thing as "word magic", and you cannot bind God with words.

All churches in the PCUSA are not like that one. (Thank the GL). Churches should have a better screening system. IMHO. Churches that accept Non-Christian parisoners or pastors deserve to fail..

PCA We don't pray to false gods. Who'd have ever thought that would be a selling point? I know they are re-writing the bible over in liberal-land, but I thought when we joked about removing one of the commandments that we were talking about #7, not #1. But you know, once you fall for the line that all religions are equal, it's hard to explain why you shouldn't start praying to everybody else's god. After all, it's been a long time since God smote a nation. If there is one lesson in all this, it is that we shouldn't laugh at the jews in the old testament who kept running off and worshipping the wrong gods, because we are having quite a hard time with that ourselves. Not to say that "the Prophet" might not have said SOMETHING that was correct, after all even a broken light switch works half the time.

The Presbyterian Church USA have left the building...
The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) is still conservative, evangelical, Bible Believing and Teaching -- Please don't lump us in with the PCUSA.
It's sad that the PCUSA has become apostate. We need to pray that The Lord will open their eyes before it's too late.

It's sad that the PCUSA has become apostate. We need to pray that The Lord will open their eyes before it's too late. The PCUSA has been taken over at the highest levels by Democrats. If you're a member, your offering is helping to pay for pastors' medical coverage. The problem is that their medical coverage provides for abortions for themselves and their families.
When I left the PCUSA, I became a member of the Wesleyan denomination.

When I left the PCUSA, I became a member of the Wesleyan denomination. That is falling pretty far from the Calvinist tree.

I am a member of the Presbyterian Church in America... NOT the PCUSA. And, we should still pray for them.
You're right; the take-over is pretty much complete. It's tragic.

The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) is still conservativeGiven the last few years, moderate might be a better term than conservative (unless you are in Westminster Presbytery - they can honestly claim to be conservative). You certainly can't call New York City conservative. The others fall somewhere in between.
