If that's true, I hope conservatives have taken a real, real close look at her before this big push for her confirmation! That's amazing.

Looking at the vote results from 1998, it seems that she got in the high 70s% throughout the state. Perhaps it's because liberals feel good about voting for an African-American regardless of their positions, maybe so they can tell their friends that they voted for a black woman?
