Capano's execution date delayed
Another delay for the execution of Tom Capano.
Superior Court Judge Henley Graves today stayed the June seventh execution date he set nearly two months ago. The stay will allow Capano's appeal to the Delaware Supreme Court to be considered.
Capano was sentenced to death for the murder of Anne Marie Fahey in 1996.
Prosecutors said Capano killed Fahey, the scheduling secretary for then-governor Tom Carper, because she was breaking off an affair with him.
The Delaware Supreme Court is still also considering a motion by Capano's attorney, Joseph Bernstein, to appoint a lawyer to represent Capano at state expense. Bernstein says Capano is broke, having spent his millions defending himself in the case. (AP )
Ping! (Are there any Delawareans, ex-Delawareans, or native Delawareans left on FR?)
I am a Delawarean
Thanks for stopping by on the thread! I was born and raised in Wilmington. I lived there for the first 23 years of my life.
I'm still around!
I know, but you're in Virginia now, like me.
Not from Deleware, but has anyone heard from the other girlfreind that Capano tried to implicate in the crime, Debbie MacIntyre?
That's true - but you did ask for "ex-Delawareans" :)

Ann Rule wrote a great book about this case. This guy is a dirt bag!
Come to think of it - I haven't.......and even though I'm no longer in Delaware I do try to keep up on this story, because I know/knew a lot of the folks involved.
But Debbie MacIntyre has never written to him; he is only a bad dream in her past. She graduated from college with straight A's and works in Wilmington in the medical research field.
So much of what was going on at that time never came out in any of thenews articles, books, or even at trial itself.
While the whole state is actually like a lagre small town when it comes to knowing what others are doing, it is totally amazing about how so many secrets actually do go to the grave with those keeping them. I truly think there are powerful folks in Delaware holding their breath for this to end. The will be such a collective sigh of relief following Tom's execution there will no longer be a pollution problem in Delawre.
Tell me about it! I love my "home soil," and will always consider it to be "home." However, with the advantages of being a "large small town," like you said, there are also plenty of disadvantages. I think my loathing of dealing with political campaigns comes from my experience with them in Delaware. I'd rather work with issues anyway.
I still enjoy both.
But the small size of Delaware actually spoiled me.......I knew all the politicians and the issues and knew exactly who to call and who not. The huge size of Virginia is daunting in comparison.
Being off over here myself also doesn't help very much, many legislators don't even seem to know where the Eastern Shore is.............
