These so called sub-tribes hide him one day, and he retrurns the favor by blowing them up the next.

I hope the media will finally stop calling the thugs who blow up innocent civilians "insurgents." Not likely, but I can hope.

A "PING" is sending a message to other FReepers to read and comment on a thread.

Whoops - sorry - I was just sending a PING to old sarge - it puts my "ping" in his comments and alerts him to this article. I thought it might interest him.

Testimonies from captured members of the network indicate they had become disheartened by the criminal activities being carried out by the organization.

Well isn't that special?

Coalition forces also just missed capturing Zarqawi during a raid on Feb. 20. The raid occurred between Hit and Haditha near the Euphrates River.

This is new info........earlier news reports had it taking place on the road between Ramadi and Fallujah.

Hit and Haditha is up in the general area where the Marines are kicking terrorist butt.

Same - same "escalating violence in Iraq" line by the braying jackass media.

It's no longer a "war".

If you have not yet checked out Wretchard and Chester you ought to go over and look at what they are saying and get a look at their maps:

Detainee stated the last time he talked with (name withheld) a lot of foreign fighters associated with the AMZ network were leaving all over Iraq and returning to their respective countries. Detainee didn’t know how many or who these people were. Detainee said after the second battle of Fallujah many of the Mujahideen fighters felt they had lost everything and it wasn’t worth fighting anymore. Detainee said the percentage of people loyal to AMZ is steadily declining due to the number of Mujahideen who were killed in Fallujah.

Letting the Marines and Army do their jobs to kill terrorists actually works!

Zarqawi then quickly grabbed his American-made rifle with one magazine and an unknown amount of US dollars and escaped.

Interesting detail... Zarqawi with an M-16?

I just hope Zarqawi doesn't manage to flee to Syria (though for a few reasons he might be apprehensive to do that) - There is no doubt the U.S. operation that is going on now in this area is about destroying a very active membership within Zarqawi led insurgency.

Zarqawi has to know he has less and less people he can trust everyday (or at least less and less people that he can trust to even protect his fellow insurgents everyday).

'Detainee stated that he didn't see Americans raping Iraqi women, there was no Saddam's Army, and that Muslims were killing Muslims every day and that he did not know why he was in Iraq anymore but was unable to leave. '

Might be time for dropping leaflets by the bushel and telling them they can go home (via a controlled exit) without penalty.

Assuming we have a clue which ones are the real bad guys - who shouldn't be freed to start this crap all over again.

It was great to read positive reports for a change. And to see that some of those people aren't completely past caring about what they are being asked to do in the name of 'Islam'.

When they return it by showing up is that a pong? :-)

I suspect that Zarqaw has beat it back to Syria for a little R&R.

Hmmmmm. If he did manage to escape to Syria, and we did have ample proof of such an escape...

I like your train of thought - but I doubt that would be enough to allow us (the public support needed) for us to move on Syria -

Plus, the fact is he'd be that much more difficult to catch within Syria than he has been for the past year and half in Iraq - Not a good situation if he manages to flee (though there are several reasons why he might not want to go that route in Syria).

I think Zar-Creepy may have assumed room temperature, like UBL.

They have not been seen in a while and both are "Media-whores", their followerss are using them as "Boogey-men" thinking they scare us.

If, however, he IS in Syria, never mind proving it, ask the Mossad to "clean up the mess", so to speak.
