Would your chronic jock itch keep you from going to work? How about some Micatin?

People who do not deal with this problem do not understand how completely frustrating and EXPENSIVE it is to companies, especially when you have unions protecting these deadbeat employees. I would wager other measures short of this have been tried with no success.

It might. Then again, I might go to the doctor to get treated for chronic hemorrhoids or some other embarrasing malady.

Just because the employer is incompetent and cannot motivate its workers is no excuse for it to have access to a person's private medical files. Those files are to be between a person and his/her doctor. Period.

That's my point! Jock itch would not prevent me from showing up for work, at least I hope not. But, if I did stay home to go to the doctor (for whatever) and HR requests my records, does someone HR need to have access to my personal jock itch issue? What if an employee perceives their illness as embarrassing or possibly puts their employment on the line? Some will forgo treatment fearing that work find out. BTW, jock itch was just an example. As a female, I have yet to experience that. : )

I don't get it. What kind of business are they running? Figure out the benefits you can afford to pay and limit the compensation package to that. Several companies that I work with (Defense contractors-- engineering) doen't even have sick leave... just leave. 45 days/year for illness, vacation, or whatever you please... problem solved. If a company gives it's workers more sick and family leave than they can afford to support whose fault is it? Assume it will be abused and limit it to what you can afford to pay out. Move out of states with Unions and take your business elsewhere
