Hey All,

Just got the news that Greenpeace was convicted in a Ketchikan district court of two misdemeanor counts of failure to comply with environmental laws. They came to Alaska to protest some logging in Tongass national forest and failed to file the proper OIL SPILL RESPONSE PLANS FOR THERE VESSELS!!!!

GREENPEACE? with no plans in case of oil spill from their vessel? This is a vessel that holds tens of thousands of gallons of diesel and other hazardous materials and was traveling in some of the most treacherous (and pritine) waters of the country. They finally got caught by their own stupid regulations. Ha ha ha!! They will pay some small fines and no jail time but, you can bet they'd be screaming bloody murder if we (Alaska) had let some corporate vessel run the inside passage of S.E. Alaska with no plans and thousands of gallons of diesel.

I suppose this is getting exactly zero air time in the lower 48? media bias strikes again.

I don't really know how this system works but, hopefully some of my fellow Freepers can post this news in some high exposure places down in the lower 48 or send it to a few talk shows. Our Alaska news is not exactly world class and I've only found a couple print articles on the net. The news is pretty fresh. the conviction came yesterday (the 10th).

I recall reading about this when the charges were first filed. The Greenies were whining that the law didn't really apply to them, and that they were being persecuted because of politics.

After seein' some of the women who belong to that group, they should change their name to 'GREENPIECE".
