The gate guarding the home of Richard Attaway is where White and Prairie County Sheriffs deputies were supposed to arrest him on federal and weapons charges. But instead of raiding 140 Alice Lane, they ended up about 400 feet off, at the home of Searcy police detective Anne Owens.
"The initial address they gave us was not the correct address, explains White County Lt. John Slater. He says the Prairie County Sheriff's Office asked them to assist in the arrest of Attaway.
According to Slater, the Prairie County Sheriff's Office was given an address at the intersection of Georgia Ridge Rd. and Morris School Rd. Deputies went inside, breaking down the door, only to realize they were at the wrong house.
They then asked a neighbor, where Attaway lived. Lt. Slater continues, She was shown a photograph of the individual, asked if she knew the individual. She said yes he did, and pointed behind her residence down a driveway."
They ended up at Detective Owens' home this time. Slater says, When the deputy knocked on the door, the door came open, he announced himself."
Once inside, they realized they were at the wrong homeagain. "I was shocked. I tried to be professional about the situation, recalls Owens.
But looking at it as a citizen and a mom, she isn't taking it so lightly. My children do not feel comfortable. Both of our daughters have left, she explains.
Lt. Slater responds, It was a mistake, that's all it is. My apologies go out, there was no damage, nobody was hurt."
Detective Owens disagrees, They say there was no damage. There was damage done to the gate."
Attaway's father would lead detectives to his residence. But finding Alice Lane isn't easy. City maps, including a Mapquest search, shows Alice Lane north of Panther Creek, about a quarter of a mile off. Lt. Slater says they're looking into updating address information in this rural area.
Still Det. Owens says there were plenty indicators to let them know her house was the wrong one. Our mailboxes are on the outside of the road of Morris School Rd. They could have ran the tag. There's also a one-ton dually sitting as they drove down the driveway by a barn that had my husbands business name."
Must be LSD in the local donuts or something.
Wrong house can be such a buzz killer for LEO's. No high fives, a bunch of cryin kids who've been ninja F-CK shouted down for ten minutes accompanied by death threats, and a hazmat contractor billing by the minute to clean up bodily fluids from the perps. It's an expensive show and the disappointment when it doesn't go down well is just inexcusable.
What state is this, CO?
just wait till they start doing this en masse over ammo purchase records and gun registrations...
should be amusing.
Agree totally
Unacceptable and my remark was satire only.
Sometimes you got to laugh to keep from crying.
Incidently, Panther Creek is just a tad east of Talpa and a bit farther east of Rowena.
Now if the cops want to catch a real outlaw they need to go to Rowena.
Where Bonnie Parker grew up. They will be 70 years too late but closer than they appear in this cluster.
mapquest isn't as good for rural areas, IMO.
It appears that no one even knows what state this was.
KTHV appears to be a Little Rock, Arkansas TV station. I assume it's a local story.
DEPUTIES RAID WRONG HOMES
incompetent boobs.
Wanna bet they started searching the homes anyway...
Apparently they dont even know what planet it was. </sarcasm
TV station reporting is in Little Rock, Arkansas.
KTHV are call letters for an Arkansas TV station and there are two counties as named in Arkansas, so my gut tells me it is Arkansas. Also I heard about it on a Memphis TV station today.
They're lucky they didn't encounter an armed home owner, perhaps one who was awakened from sleep to the sounds of his/her door being kicked in.
Mapquest is only good for wasting paper in your printer.
It looks like Arkansas.
Idiots.
No. the story is about the harm that was cause to poor Detective Owens
