Alvarado, who was hospitalized in March 2004 and missed a month of school because of mononucleosis, hepatitis, jaundice and dehydration, provided student affidavits claiming teachers drove rumors of her illness. She said she doesn't know how she got mono. I don't condone the comments by the teacher, but I also notice that the girl didn't deny the charges....
Also, the story doesn't indicate what type of hepatitis she had - and where she might have contracted that as well.....

Sister Rose Wiorek, Mother McAuley's principal, said she wasn't aware of anybody on her staff discussing Alvarado's illness with students.

but I also notice that the girl didn't deny the charges. Its an assumption she is.
Even if she was the worst whore on the face of the earth, its pretty safe to say she would deny it.
Either way, how many high school kids do you know have to go around saying they are not whores because of a rumor a teacher started and should they really have to keep denying it?

Why should this girl have to deny the charges? To whom does she owe a denial?
