Please let me know when you get the cost of living figures. I'll be right behind you. Hey, where's that plane the Hollyweirdos were going to leave on? Maybe it's up for sale since they didn't use it. LOL I don't know if we can survive another 3 1/2 years of this "compassion."

Actually, if you are looking to emigrate, I think Australia is in a major economic boom right now. I had read a while back about Perth and vicinity doing very well (in part, I seem to remember that they have had some major mineral strikes), and apparently other parts of Australia are also enjoying a nice boom now.
Also, I believe that Australia's government budget is in the black. However, I believe that they are still net importers (ie, Australia runs a trade deficit, a strong and persistent one if memory serves.)
Also, I seem to remember that Australians have more holiday time than we do.
American dollars, though weaker than they used to be against the Aussie dollar, I think still aren't all that weak.
Not to worry. You'll only have to pay a very slight tax increase in addition to the de-valuation of your gold coins future dollars. The bulk of this debt increase will be paid from the taxable income of your children and grandchildren.
We are borrowing working capital only to the limit that we can furnish collateral (future labor pool, national resources, etc.) to the lender.
Oh! I forget to tell you. The principle will never be amortized -- and we'll be harp-pressed to pay the interest.
Then again, not to worry. The lender will just take title to a few more national parks, etc., if we have to roll the interest over.
And someone is going to have to pay for that debt increase..... US.
Between increased handouts - and the new money to pay some of the cost of illegal's emergency care is one example - our wonderful "representatives" in Washington are breaking our country.
Is there such a thing as Bankruptcy for the Federal Government? Because I don't know many folks who can afford to pay off this debt.
Of course, if our Federal Government would cut itself back to it's CONSTITUTIONAL roll, the fed could cut our tax burden by 95% and still have surplus funds. I sure wish we could elect some folks with the guts and viewpoint of Davey Crockett:

But alas, I believe it's too late.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
