Little Rock - "Quit Digging Your Grave With A Knife and Fork" In the words Governor Huckabee, that's the key to becoming healthy and the name of his new book.

The book is not a guide on how to lose weight, it's advice on how to get healthy and for the Governor, it's the beginning of a new adventure. Friends of the Governor gathered at the mansion to celebrate the upcoming release of his new book.

(Governor Mike Huckabee)

"I think it does have an appeal. People say what? Quit digging your grave with a knife and fork? But really that's what so many of us have been doing for a long time. It's like these are the instruments of our death. The knife and the fork."

Through humor and personal experience, the book outlines ways to stop bad habits and begin a healthy lifestyle. The Governor hopes others will be inspired by his successful weight loss Huckabee went from 280 pounds to about 170 in a little over a year.

(Huckabee)

"I sometimes have to see the photos of a few years ago to say oh my gosh was that me? I know it was cause I was living in that body. So it's really kind of a shock."

As for speculation this book may be a way to garner up National attention for a possible run on the National front. Huckabee says he takes things one step at a time.

( Huckabee)

"This is about health and that's why I thought it was interesting I had Bill Clinton and Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as Mitt Romney and Mark Warner, two democrats and two republicans giving endorsements for the book. What it leads to, I don't know. What I hope it leads to is a lot of healthy people is America finding their way as I have."

This is not Huckabee's first book, but it is the first to be published by the National Group, time Warner. It will officially be released next Tuesday.

One other thing to mention is that Governor Huckabee was on the Sean Hannity radio this afternoon talking about the book and giving Freepers and Free Republic a mention or two. Sean did as well.

One point Governor Huckabee made is that he is not for nannyism in regards to health and nutrition (like the new tax proposal on fast food in Detroit). He made it very clear that he believes in personal responsibility and it's up to the individual to take charge of their own health and welfare.

Now at age 49, the Governor also mentioned that he has never drank alcohol or smoked in his life. And here I thought that I was only only person over age 40 in that category. Good for him.

Awe-inspiring in my book!

Dude, YOU ROCK!

I am almost 30, have lived in other countries, speak other languages and teach, but I still can't see how people can NOT watch pro-wrestling. WWE is finally doing well again and the watching is fun.

Hey, if you are going to dig a grave, use a shovel. Please pass the burgers and then it's nap time.

Certainly nothing wrong with burgers from time to time. Based on experience over the past twenty plus years I'd go for the Coleman Meats or Maverick Ranch when it comes to beef products. If I'm not mistaken Maverick Ranch is the official beef supplier of the USA Olympic training centers.

I saw Huckabee on Imus yesterday, and Imus was reading the recommendation from Clinton (that I guess must be featured on the cover jacket of the book). Clinton had complimented Huckabee on his discipline. And I'm thinking... Is this for real? Is it April Fools Day?

I won't be buying this book. I won't be voting for Huckabee in any GOP primary. What is up with Republicans and Clinton these days, anyway? First we had Bob Dole getting all cuddly with him. Then Bush41 adopts the creep. Then Bush43 praises the impeached one's "good heart." Now Huckabee, who should be quite aware of Clinton's path of destruction running from Little Rock to D.C., nevertheless has the creep writing a recommendation for his book. In my book, they're all RINOs.

Mike Huckabee mentioned on the air with the 'Great American' Sean Hannity yesterday that his book is not about politics, but personal responsibilty for improving one's own health. The fact that Clinton (who I also despise) acknowledged what Mike Huckabee has accomplished is a-okay by me.

When it comes to what's up with Republicans these days... it's about showing respect for the office of the President. Even though I couldn't stand Clinton on almost any issue along with personal behaviour he was the President of our country. That's all 41, 43 and others are showing respect for.

I get it... they don't agree with you on everything so they are a RINO. From my perspective I'm glad Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and others are Republicans because this determines committee chairs in the Senate, and therefore what legislation will be brought to the floor, etc. I may not like everything that each Republican stands for, but bottom line, "Party Trumps Person" in our two party system.

http://www.850koa.com/shows/rosen/party-trumps-person.html#trumps

A conservative with Texas values wouldn't be elected as a Senator from Maine, so we can either choose to support candidates like Snowe and Collins who agree with and support many Republican / conservative issues or we can let the seats go to a democrat and potentially lose those committee chairs and overall majority in the Senate. Ah.. what the heck, run a candidate that won't be considered a 'RINO' and get Ted Kennedy as a committee chairman. Just what you want, right?

Take me for instance... I'm pro choice when it comes to abortion in the case of rape, incest and the like. Guess that could potentially qualify me as a RINO from an absolutest point of view. I'm a libertarian-minded conservative.

If Mike Huckabee runs for higher office I will support him in a heartbeat. He will make an excellent candidate for which ever office he chooses to run for when his days as Arkansas Governor wind down.

Showing "respect for the office" by showing respect for Clinton actually degrades the prestige of that office because of what Clinton did while he was in the office.

By praising Clinton personally, people such as Dole and the two Bushes cheapen the praise they hand out to people who legitimately deserve it. Their judgment comes into question. And when Bush43 says Clinton has a good heart, that serves as a brutal slap in the face to people like Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, Linda Tripp, Billy Dale, Marisleysis Gonzalez, and victims and family members of the FALN terrorist bombings (brutal acts by brutal people, some of whom were granted clemency by Clinton, so that Hillary might score additional Puerto Rican votes in New York).

Why Huckabee would pick Clinton as one of two Democrats to endorse his book is beyond me. There are plenty of Democrats out there who haven't raped anybody, committed perjury, pardoned terrorists or been impeached. Was Jimmy Carter unavailable, or does he support fat people staying fat?

As for your lecture about absolutism, I can find it in my heart to support Republicans who differ with me on a few issues here and there. I've voted for many in the past. However, paying someone as corrupt as Clinton respect just because he managed to fool between 42 and 49 percent of American voters in 1992 and 1996 is not something I will ever tolerate.

So you are saying Clinton is 100% all bad? I'm sure he may be to you, but any review of his record shows that not to be the case. It's like the folks here that compare Hillary to Hitler... just a totally outrageous comparison, just as it for the wacko left to compare Bush to any Nazi.

I love the Governor, but as a Baptist pastor, Huckabee should have followed the scriptures on God's plan for a healthy body years ago, and not act that it is a new idea.

No, but his bad deeds are bad enough that he deserves criticism a heck of a lot more than he deserves praise.

I would agree with you but I am constantly called a RINO. You are right...people from many red states don't understand that electing moderate Republicans is basically all many of us blue state Republicans can even hope for.I too like Huckabee and I am amazed of his progress. I don't know all his policies, but I do like what I have seen to date. I would prefer Gov. Sanford of SC, but he has said repeatedly that he won't run. I am keeping my eyes open and waiting to see who/what emerges as the front runner...George Allen? Maybe, but he has to win re-election and Senators don't usually become President.

On another note, hopefully Gov. Huckabee will continue this course and keep the weight off...that is the hardest thing after you lose it.
