Granted.. But the posted Death rate may be way to high if the milder cases that everyone suspects are not being counted. So basically it's 34% if you are sick enough to warrant medical care.
The prospects for an epidemic of flu that could perhaps kill 1/3rd of my family in the next year is sufficient motivation to keep me monitoring the situation, especially since my wife works at a hospital.
My expectation is that this strain will drop to probably less than a 5% mortality rate, but even that is staggering.
